10+ Winter activities in Western New York

Do you live or are traveling to the Western New York area? Winter can really put a damper on activities when we get hit with snow. I thought this year I would recommend specific establishments to get you out of the house. I sometimes forget all of the wonderful things in this area we can do. Before I dig in, I will say Ice Skating & snowmobiling are also wonderful ideas. I have mentioned both in the past because New York has some amazing trails and well...snow!
I also included adult ONLY activities for the winter season.
If you have other suggestions/locations comment!!!
1. Support the local Hockey teams in your area! These young athletes deserve a nice hometown fan base. The games are usually reasonably priced and full of action for all ages! We have been making the Southern Tier Xpress games lately and love it!! If youth hockey is not your forte you can always enjoy a Buffalo Sabres game as well!!

Cajun Chicken Salad

Just trying to add more salads to my lunch menu. I have to say it has been so hard to find recipes that fill you up enough for the next meal. I have found a few so I will be sharing them in the next few weeks! As always they have been inspired by our Home Chef meals but I enjoy changing them up a bit and sharing them with you!
What you will need:
1 package of Roasted Chicken Breast
Ranch Dressing to taste
Cajun Seasoning
1 oz. Shredded White Cheddar Cheese
2-3 Grape Tomatoes
3-4 Mushrooms (optional)
Dice everything up and add to a salad bowl. I included mushrooms in my salad but you can leave them out if you wish! Here is $30 off your order, Click HERE. Each recipe we try have been added to our weekly meals with a few tweaks to make them more appropriate to our families likes!
Have you started to eat healthy this year?
Was that one of your resolutions??

10 Government themed Shows on Netflix

J. Edgar Hoover FBI building
When my son was in first-grade we took him to Washington D.C. We had this idea of enriching his learning firsthand. You can enjoy our trip thoughts/tips here.  After this trip we all realized we enjoyed learning about history and government systems. Since we have been searching for shows to enjoy while we are house bound due to heavy snow storms. Does anyone else enjoy government shows on Netflix?? If you have clicked on this post I think you share this passion with us. Hopefully, you will find these suggestions interesting! If I miss any shows you think we should see, let us know!

1. Madam Secretary-- Just found this show and we are so hooked! Follow the team of Madam Secretary as she tries to keep peace, advise the President and put out the drama in Washington!! So much drama you will be sitting at the edge of your sofa...
2. The West Wing-- So many people love this show and we have yet to give it a go! Scandals, victory, loss all while trying to run the executive branch, yikes!
3. The Crown--Netflix just added another Season and I am so glad! I love watching the cast portray Britain's monarchy. Drama, duty, betrayals..you name it!

 4. House of Cards-- Follow Congressman Frank Underwood through corrupt power.
5.  Manhunt--FBI's hunt for the Unabomber in the 1990s. Agent Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerld, a fresh-faced criminal profiler with the agency, faces an uphill battle in tracking the infamous criminal but also has to fight against the bureaucracy of the Unabom Task Force (UTF), of which he is a part. Although Fitz pioneers the use of forensic linguistics, others in the UTF dismiss his maverick ideas and new approaches. Ultimately, though, his new techniques help him identify and capture the Unabomber.

 6. The Royal House of Windsor --The history of Britain's ruling dynasty, the Windsors, over the last 100 years, starting with the time around the outbreak of WWI.
7. MindHunter--Catching a criminal often requires the authorities to get inside the villain's mind to figure out how he thinks. That's the job of FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench. They attempt to understand and catch serial killers by studying their damaged psyches. Along the way, the agents pioneer the development of modern serial-killer profiling.
Washington Monument
8. Blacklist--For decades, ex-government agent Raymond "Red" Reddington has been one of the globe's most wanted fugitives. But then he agreed to work with the FBI to catch his "blacklist" of mobsters, spies and international terrorists -- on the condition that he must work with profiler Elizabeth Keen. Red's true intentions -- choosing Liz, a woman with whom he seemingly has no connection -- are unclear. Does Liz have secrets of her own? Red promises to teach Liz to think like a criminal "to see the bigger picture," whether she wants to or not.

9. My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman-- The series consists of interviews with one guest per episode both inside and outside a studio setting. The first season of six episodes will include interviews with Barack Obama, George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, and Howard Stern.
White House
10. Shooter--A top Marine sniper, Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg), leaves the military after a mission goes horribly awry and disappears without a trace. Swagger is coaxed back into service after high-profile government officials convince him to help thwart a plot against the President of the United States. Swagger realizes he has been betrayed and becomes the target of a nationwide manhunt. Instead of hiding, he seeks revenge against some of the most powerful and corrupt leaders in the free world.
10 Government themed Shows on Netflix
My son also enjoyed shows this month! Here are his TOP 2 suggestions:

1. Troll Hunters tales of Arcadia-- It lies at the center of magical and mystical lines that will make it a nexus for many battles among otherworldly creatures including trolls, aliens and wizards.
2. Dragons race to the Edge-- The band of dragon trainers, who all now have dragons of their own, are also featured. Through the training, the kids have developed special bonds with their dragons by learning about each animal's unique powers, discovering new species and battling new villains -- all while exploring new worlds they never imagined.

Let's escape to Saint Augustine, Florida

The past weekend, Western New York got hit with snow. We knew it was coming but nothing prepares you for the frigid temperatures. They are calling for -21F tomorrow, EEEk! I am already missing sunshine. I am ready to escape the snow to brick laid streets, rich history and beaches! If you are feeling the winter blues this post is just for you. Enjoy my trip to historic Saint Augustine, Florida. It is hands down one of my favorite cities to visit. From historic museums to ghost tours there is truly something for everyone.
I received accommodation to facilitate my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
Venture over the Bridge of lions and park your car on Cordova Street.
Take an early morning stroll down to Hot Shots Bakery. I completely stumbled upon this little gem on my last visit in town. When I say gem, listen, I mean it! As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a friendly welcome, cozy decor and the smell of sugar notes on the tip of your nose.
