Capture Washington D.C. with HP Instant Ink

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” — Benjamin Franklin. My son was learning about the presidents in his first-grade class. We came up with a genius idea to take him to Washington D.C. for an extended vacation to have him enrich his learning firsthand. Learning out of a textbook can not compare to touching something in real life. Throughout the trip he would say how monuments were much larger then he expected.
This post is in collaboration with HP. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
We explored many of the tourist and historical stops many do when in town. We also enjoyed a tour of the FBI headquarters and White House. The memories of this trip will personally stay with me because it was so eye opening. I saw my work come to life benefiting my family. I also experienced this trip through my son's eyes and that my friends is very humbling!

Encourage reading with LeapStart Learning system

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!
I have always loved to read. When I found out I was pregnant I decided to tackle my fear of reading out loud. I practiced Dr. Seuss books so by the time my son was older I was a pro. Every night I would read to him before he went to sleep and still continue this routine to this day! By reading to my son I encourage a love of reading in him. He now enjoys chapter books at age seven and can read on his own. When he finished first grade he tested in the third grade reading level! Reading is a big part of our family and I encourage you all to read and help your little one's learn to read as well.
When Leagfrog sent us two of the NEW LeapStart Learning systems I was so excited! My son helped me unbox them and even he agreed they were interesting!

Travel: Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

I had the pleasure of going on the Fathom Cruise to the Dominican Republic. After returning to port I decided to stay in Miami for a few extra days. While in town I sought out wonderful places to visit when I came across the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. If you only hit the beach and this you will NOT be disappointed.
This Italian Renaissance-inspired villa welcomes you from the very minute you enter the secluded driveway. This historic landmark will take you back in time to 1910 in such a great way!
I respectfully did not take photos within the walls of the Villa, but each room is detailed, and full of rich history to absorb.

"I learned it" on Netflix

Summer is in full swing and we are raring to go! Go outside and explore after being kept inside of classrooms and from cold temperatures during the winter time. Then the dreaded "rainy days" hit and we are once again stuck indoors. What to do? I think every parent hears "I'm bored" to the point of a metal breakdown. Have no fear parents, I have compiled a list of wonderful shows on Netflix to keep your kids entertained yet learning something! From the history of Cleopatra to learning what baking powder vs. baking soda can do to cupcakes, you will be surprised they ‘Learned It On Netflix!

Recipe: Two Pot Campfire Dinner

During the Summer I like to be outside as much as possible! In western New York it snows about 9 months out of the year so Summertime is the only time we have to really fit all outside activities in! I want to share my two pot Campfire Dinner with you!
What you will need:
Vegetables (we used sweet peppers)
Kielbasa (any sausage will work)
Potatoes (diced)
1 packet of dry ranch dressing mix
Coconut oil
I coat each cast iron pan with Coconut oil before adding any food in them.
This helps with clean up later on! Add the vegetables and met in one Cast Iron Skillet.
Place on the campfire, mixing frequently.
