January TV Show Picks #StreamTeam

**I received a free subscription to Netflix to review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
Our ground is covered with snow and we haven't been going out as much as normal. This month has been pretty exciting in the world of TV shows because of it. The Adventures of Puss in Boots, came to Netflix on Jan. 16!! If you enjoyed the movie this series is right up your alley. Mac was excited to check out the new series and I have to say they did a good job. Puss in Boots has a whole new cast of characters to protect and save from the outside thieves.
Another show we have been watching is Transformers Prime.
"the Autobots once again protect Earth from the onslaught of the Decepticons and their leader, Megatron". This is another great little series Mclachlan is really enjoying. When we were in NYC he was lucky enough to get a picture with one of the series characters, shown above.
Now onto some of the shows we have enjoyed when Mclachlan is in bed.
These shows are full of education. humor, suspense and are just down right awesome. I hope they start adding more seasons to these because we really enjoy these TV series! What are your favorite Netflix shows?

Faith Corner: Love thy Neighbor 1/25/2015

Are you ready for me to ruffle the feathers of Faith, religious and spiritual followers across the board? Why do you ask? Because, this concept of "love thy neighbor" sends me into complete and utter self- turmoil. To the point, I want to throw apologetics out my second story window and scream! Yep, some of you just read that sentence and immediately became offended or defensive. I'm sorry but I struggle with "love thy neighbor", I mean have you met my neighbors? Why should I love them? Clearly hygiene is not a priority in their life? I am talking both body cleanliness and the inside/outside of their home.
Why should I even care about them let alone love them? I am pretty certain they do not give a flying hoot about me when they are smashing their 6th bottle of bud light in my yard, leaving it for me to clean up later.

Mark 12:31 (NIV) States:
31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Well, I guess I am in trouble because I have a hard time showing love towards those I feel don't deserve it. I just got goosebumps typing that sentence, I mean who am I to judge? How can I be 100% certain that someone else is less deserving of my love? I have no idea their personal struggles, challenges, obstacles etc.
What I do know is being the bigger person has put me in a "lets walk all over Liz" situations. People will take advantage of your nice gestures and start using you, once they see you exhibit the "bigger person" mentality. How do I "love thy neighbor and be the bigger person" without being taken complete advantage of?
The only solution I have come up with is lead by example. I have instilled in my brain the motto: "Be change you want to see in the world"~ Gandhi. Without love what is left? Without inspiration where is the drive to be anything more? I have faith my neighbors will stop being irresponsible and think of my son who uses the grassy yard they throw glass bottles in. Do you love your neighbors? Do you have any suggestions on how to make it easier??

Top 5 Winter Activities

Top 5 Winter Activities:
1. Ice Skating: Did you ever do this as a kid? I took Mac ice skating for the first time and I am so glad.  This is a pretty inexpensive thing to take your child to do. Another great benefit to this activity is that it appeals to all ages even us ADULTS!!
2. Arcade & Ping Pong: This is a great cheap way to entertain children. I loved ping pong as a kid and even more so passing the skill down to my son. We have a local area who allows kids to play for free. Arcades are another great way to have fun, try little competitions between you and your kiddos.
 3. Bowling: This is another great, inexpensive, activity that can be fun! I love bowling because we can invite friends or just go Mac & I.
 4. LEGOS: Now those of you that have a girl are thinking really? Local libraries hold Lego clubs and I have to say most of the time it is both girls & boys. I LOVED Lego as a kid so when my five year old finally came into liking them as well I was SUPER excited!!
5. Sledding: This is the last activity I am suggesting today. I tried to pick out activities you can do both in groups or just you and your child(ren). Sledding is another great activity to pass the time, any age can participate and you can join in! So strap on some snow gear and get out there!!

Buffalo Chicken Pizza Recipe 1/20/2015

Buffalo Chicken Pizza Recipe

 What you will need:
Melt (you can use butter if you prefer)
Ranch dressing
Blue cheese (this is optional)
Garlic powder
Hot sauce!!
Chicken cooked & shredded
Pizza dough
Spray your pizza pan and spread the dough over it. I rolled the ends to make a crush. Then I gently coated the dough with melted melt & garlic powder.
I shredded 4 chicken legs cooked with equal parts blue cheese, ranch and hot sauce. Now we like our spicy so we added a lot. You can really add as little or as less depending on how you like it. If it is too spicy add more ranch & blue cheese. Mix this together and spread over your dough. Then spread shredded cheese and place in the oven!
Bake at 350 until cheese is completely melted!
Serve hot & enjoy!

Faith Corner: Should you house Doubt?

The last few weeks I have touch on a few topics that I hope got you all thinking and debating. I have some of the best ideas right before I go to sleep. One evening my mind was just racing with ideas to the point sleep evaded me. It was in this time I realized "doubt" holds a big place in my mind, just like worry has. I was doubting about my profession. If you are reading this, then you can see my profession in black and white. I have a website. This website started off as a suggestion someone gave me after attending my coupon class. I always wanted to be a teacher but doubted I could stand in front of others to speak (I was wrong). But blogging is not a "real" job?? Who does that for a living, maybe I should get a real job.
"You can always come up with an excuse why you can't do something. And you can say I'm going to wait for the conditions to be perfect before I go out. The conditions are NEVER perfect. If you wait for the conditions to be perfect, to make your dream a reality, then your going to be sitting on your dream for the rest of your life (spoken by EvanCarmichael)".
Do you also house doubt? Do you make excuses? I have doubted myself about this business adventure from day one! Yet, I continue to write these posts. Then last July, I went to NYC for a conference. I was a lucky recipient of Free tickets to which I took my mother along. This was the first time my profession really blessed another person.
I was a real business person, meeting clients, businesses and showing off my small town talents. I excelled in groups, signed on brands and just overall learn so much about myself. On the way home from NYC (a six hour drive) my Mom reflected a lot about our trip. She said: "I will never say you do not work hard, I could never do what you have managed to do in such a short amount of time".
This post is not about my accomplishments in life but rather my reflections of the past year. People told me from day one I was never "good enough", I couldn't make anything of myself. I heard them laughing and talking about me behind my back. I listened and saw their comments about my videos, my posts to the point I actually believed them. Doubt is consuming and it is contagious. If you have doubt, it is ok, you are not alone. But, if you house doubt and let it dwell within you, doubt will eat you up! If you hear negative comments about your dream/passion, push so far ahead you can no longer hear their words.

Tips on Ice Skating with Kids

I remember as a kid watching figure skating with my grandmother. The skill, dance moves and pure talent had me in complete awe. I always wanted to be a professional figure skater so at a young age took lessons. As I got older I realized the industry was more about weight requirements and less about "fun". Never in my wildest dreams did I think those lessons would benefit me later on in life when I had children. Here are some great tips if you want to take child of any age out ice skating.
❄ Dress in layers. Like my Mom always says you can take off clothes but never put them on if you don't have them!
❄ Rent skates, Hockey skates are usually great for beginners!
❄ Don't tie the skates too tight because this may leave blisters, although blisters usually happen no matter what so wear long socks!
❄ Bring some friends or extra adults with you. This helps with balancing first timers.
❄ Be patient, it's scary when you first go out on the ice so take it slow.
❄ The fear of falling always get people. I always purposely slide on the ice to show it's not so bad and part of it. Fail get back up, no big deal.
❄ Lend a hand or rent a metal balance tool to help you on the ice.
You can also hold onto the side of the rink.
❄ The best advice I can give you is this, HAVE FUN!!! Ice skating is fun, even if you fail, are cold, are not very good. Try not to be a perfectionist about technique but rather enjoy being on the ice. Trust me if kids are having fun they won't want to leave the ice once they get on it!

Faith Corner: Practice what you Preach?

We are teachers, all of us, to those around us. If you are a parent, this is something that quietly speaks in the back of your mind. Are you doing a good job? Do you practice what you preach?  Do you have a crazy, "wild child" friend whom you listen to, or see their pictures on Facebook, and think OH MY WORD what have ya done now???
Just remember:
#1 this person is YOUR friend, and you know what they say "guilty by association".
#2 Clearly, you are NOT rubbing off on them.
So, I ask again do you practice what you preach?
If we are not teaching each other, learning from one another how can we possibly expect our children to? I am not trying to sound harsh, but the reality is this generation has such a disconnect from previous generations to the next generation. My five year old is a smart child. Now, I am not trying to brag here (although pat on my back he really is a smarty pants) but there is a LOT of pressure being his Mom. I am one of the VERY influential people in his life. I directly effect his life and prepare him for life after I leave this world. Will he be ready? Talk about pressure.
Leading by an example not my opinion is so hard. I never realize how opinionated and judgmental I was until I became a Mom.
I grumble about all the rude strangers bumping into me when shopping.
I give an attitude when someone does smile or say "hi" back.
Mom, why are you being rude?
I become impatient whilst driving and honk my horn or yell choice words.
Mom, why are you yelling, they cannot hear you?
Am I leading by example, do I practice what I preach? I want my son to be accepting, loving and nonjudgmental. If I cannot hold to my own preachings how can I expect other teachers too? How can I hold the government officials to the same platform, when they too are all humans?
Matthew 23:3 NLT states:
"23So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don't follow their example. For they don't practice what they teach".
Many of my friends can attest, I have a motto anyone can use to help make wise decisions. Think of someone extremely important to you. For me, that is my son. If he were to walk into the room and see whatever it was I was doing would I be ashamed? Now, take that a step further in Faith, if God were to walk in and watch you, right this second, would he be happy with your decisions? I don't know about you but this motto helps keep my "desires" in check. It helps keep my "practice what you preach" in check. If I wouldn't want my son to see my actions then I certainly wouldn't want the all powerful, creator of the universe seeing it either! If you are not religious or spiritual what keeps you in check? What helps you practice what you preach?
