7 Summer Sport Essentials for Kids

Yum
"Practice Makes perfect". That saying has been drilled into my mind when I was a kid playing sports and to this day that still drill it in our young. My son luckily love sports and doesn't mind. From Games, practices or to just playing scrimmage with strangers at the park we are always on the go. Here are some great essentials for any parent with active kids!
This post is sponsored by BODYARMOR as part of the Mom It Forward Influencer Network. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
1. In the Summer humidity you really need to keep your child hydrated throughout the day! BODYARMOR sports drink is easy for on the go and comes in a variety of flavors. It is packed with electrolytes, coconut water, and vitamins and is low in sodium and high in potassium. BODYARMOR contains natural flavors and sweeteners and no colors from artificial sources. My son's favorite flavor happens to be grape, I found it at our local Wegmans (grocery store).

2. Bring along a cooler with you to event. Having a cool refreshing drink really helps cool you down after running around. With all the energy m son burns it is the least I can do by bringing a cooler to keep our drinks cold!
3. Wear proper attire. The sun can be rather harsh if you have to sit in it for long periods of time for sporting events. I usually wear a hat to protect my scalp from sun burn. I also encourage my son to wear one as well if allowed during games!
4. Bring along Granola Bars for an on the go snack. It is low in sugar and high in protein! Easy to toss into a bag, are full of flavor, and are a great way to increase nutrient intake preventing crankiness in your child.
5. Keep a small first aid kit on hand. Someone always gets hurt! Fill the first aid kit with bandages in various sizes, alcohol wipes, antibiotic cream, and bug repellent.
6. Wear sunscreen. Although I do wear a hat to help protect my scalp you still need sunscreen. The sun rays can be so harmful and it is easy to get burnt. Even if you are reapply all day if you are not using the proper SPF you could still risk a burn. Generally, I use 50-70 SPF on my son's skin because he is so prone to sun burns!
7. Bring along some camping chairs. There is so many fancy "Sporting equipment". I find so many families end up being uncomfortable and stand the entire event. I use camping chairs to stay comfortable and mine have cup holders for our Sports drinks!
Cheering my son on the sidelines has become so important to us. Making sure I replenish his body as he embraces an athletic lifestyle is vital. Keeping him protected from the sun, comfortable and hydrated helps keep his body healthy! That way he can continue running circles around us adults.

  2. Bodyarmor is such a great sports drink. Everyone in the house uses it. I use it when I work out, and my kids use it when they do their sports.

  3. I have seen a few bottles of BODYARMOR sports drinks at my kids soccer games. It is hard to find something that the kids like to drink that is good for them. I need to get some before the next game.

  5. I can totally relate. My son plays baseball in the Summer - I don't know how they do ut but we make sure to come prepared with sunblock, folding chairs, and a cooler. We even bought the chairs with the cover to block the sun. Florida sun is serious.

  9. I tried the Body Armor for the first time a few days ago instead of the usual sugarwater sports drink and really liked it. It's got way better flavor and some actual nutrition in it to boot.

  17. These are all the essentials my mom kept on her during the summer whenever I'd play outside. She used to keep the mini bottles of water because I used to hate having to drink water. Memories!

  18. What a great list! We live in an area in Texas where it's ridiculously hot and we can't be outside too deep into the summer. But, we do enjoy loads of outdoor sports the rest of the year. Love the tip of bringing a cooler...we definitely do that to our kids' sporting events, too. We also bring wet wipes with us, too...it seems like everything can get dirty quickly.

  19. A good family friend's daughter does 2+ hours of MMA training a day. They are in a hot gym with nothing but fans going and doors open here in the Texas heat. They LOVE Body Armor drinks. She says they are so quenching and it is what she takes to the gym daily.
