The sun is finally coming out in Western New York and combined with lots of little travel getaways I have been stocking up on key statement pieces. Some people have a few pieces but I like to have a few different options to choose from. This month I enjoyed the luxury of L.V.Kiki box subscription.
L.V.Kiki will deliver to your door a box (similar to the pictures below) with 4-6 carefully curated fashion accessories every month for you to keep. Each subscription box is a surprise combination of trendy jewelry, shoes, scarves, gloves, hats, leg wear, belts, and hair accessories. Miami Beach with My Kia Optima #drivekia

Yum
I was lucky to explore Miami after a life changing excursion aboard the Fathom Impact, Adonia. If you are waiting for a rental car be sure to check which port terminal you will be exiting the cruise line from. We docked at a terminal and then was moved to another location. My rental car had to be relocated to my new location, which I felt pretty bad about. To avoid all of that just be sure to check the cruise soundings!
Once we docked and I Cleared customs I was handed the keys to my Kia Optima. After lugging my bags around the ship I placed them into the trunk to find a pretty cool feature. Simply walk behind the vehicle, the car automatically senses the keys, sends three alarms and then opens the trunk for you! This was so incredible handy especially when you are carrying things and do not have a free hand!
After that, I programmed the GPS and headed out to explore. My hotel check in was not until 3pm that day so I decided to make the most of the sunshine.

RSPO ‘What’s in your food’ campaign

Yum
It’s time to say yes to GOOD palm oil.
Today sees the launch of our exciting new global campaign, which highlights the many consumer goods that contain palm oil and that everyone can make a choice between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ palm oil.

Animated films show everyday items like noodles and ice cream that contain palm oil but asks, is it good or bad? The campaign films and dedicated website feature knitted foods created by renowned artist Jessica Dance. With support from bloggers in the US and Europe and a big push on social media we’re asking everyone to get involved with the debate and help raise awareness of GOOD palm oil.
Over 50% of supermarket goods for sale contain palm oil; from margarine and chocolate to donuts and cookies, to even household items like lipstick, shampoo and soap. In fact, around 70% of the world’s cosmetics and household detergents contain raw materials derived from palm oil. Globally, 13.47 million tonnes of palm oil is consumed but just 21% of it is certified as being from sustainable sources.
At RSPO, we believe that achieving 100% certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) in Europe is not only a realistic ambition but a vital one too. The production of ‘bad’ palm oil is rapidly destroying virgin rainforests and ecosystems and causing air pollution to rise and putting many species at risk of extinction. If grown sustainably, ‘good’ palm oil can benefit local communities with fair working conditions and help protect valuable species and forests.

Take action and Save Baby Formula #NanoBabyFormula

Yum
I was one of those Mother's who had to formula feed. I had planed to breast feed but my body would not allow it. This threw me into a new world of what should I give my son? Recently a new report just released by Friends of the Earth, found Nano-particles in Baby Formula. We all need to take a second and educate ourselves because our babies depend on us!

What is nanotechnology, what are Nanoparticles/nanomaterials?
Nanoparticles are tiny little engineered particles, about 1000x thinner than a human hair! The term ‘nanotechnology’ basically describes the manipulation of things at a really, really small scale, several hundred times smaller than our blood cells. The interesting and also the concerning thing about manipulating materials at this scale is that familiar substances change in ways that scientists may not expect or predict. Let me give you an example. We’re all familiar with the thick white sunscreen worn by lifeguards, etc. If we use nanotechnology to reduce the size of those particles to the nanoscale, suddenly those white zinc particles become transparent. This can be useful. The problem is that at this tiny scale, the particles change in other ways as well. We now know that those zinc nanoparticles are also much more toxic than the larger zinc particles – and unfortunately that appears to be true of many nanoparticles. So a key concern for us is the uncertainty associated with nanotechnology. That’s why we need new safety testing before nanoparticles are used in products.

Three (3) different types of nanoparticles were found, including:
● “needle-like” nano hydroxyapatite
● nano TiO2 (titanium dioxide)
● nano silica dioxide

Travel: St. Francis Inn

Yum
While in St Augustine's we had the pleasure of staying in one of the "oldest inns" in town the  St Francis Inn. "Dating from 1791, the Inn embodies the rich history and culture of the nation's oldest city, and visitors are invited to delve into the stories that comprise its colorful past. Anna Dummett converted her family home into a lodging establishment in 1845. The inn operated under many names until 1948 when the Inn was christened "The St Francis Inn."
The St Francis Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places. Which you can see why with the wonderful vintage charm. The amenities are high end to detail and extremely luxurious.

Drive the Way You Want Your Teen to Drive

Yum
The First Year of driving for Teenagers are among the most exciting and dangerous. The number one killer for teens are car crashes. "More than 12 young people losing their lives in car crashes each day.  As their parents, we want to keep them safe—and we can, if we understand the risks teenagers face. We can help them beat the odds by staying involved as they gain experience over that first year, as they transition from novice to experienced driver. DriveitHOME is a resource for parents. We encourage you to refer to and share proven, effective ways to help our teen drivers through this most dangerous year…and beyond."-DriveitHOME
Teens crash most often because they are inexperienced – not because they take more risks behind the wheel.
**Other teen passengers are one of the biggest distractions for teen drivers.
**Just one teen passenger raises a teen driver’s fatal crash risk 44 percent.
**Texting while driving is another distraction. Encourage them to drive NOT text!
**Most fatal nighttime crashes involving teen drivers happen between 9 p.m. and midnight **More than half of teens killed in car crashes were not restrained by a seat belt.
We can help them beat the odds by staying involved as they gain experience over that first year, as they transition from novice to experienced driver. We encourage you to refer to and share proven, effective ways to help our teen drivers through this most dangerous year…and beyond.

Things You Should Never Say to a Mother

Yum
Let me introduce myself, my name is Liz and I am a Mother. After entering this privilege by bringing my son into the world everything around me changed as I once knew it. Things that seemed so easy to do now are a bit harder. I am constantly late to things and forgetting everything. My interests, hobbies and overall life changed after becoming a parent. Leaving behind a few negative situations in which I would like to address. Things we say to our parents (mothers), ah! When I asked other Mother's what the worst things they have heard the list was disgusting. I down right shook my head. How did we come to talk such disrespect? Warning, I will probably offend you but that is ok with me because these are offensive things to say to any parent/mother.
