5 Reasons to play the LEGO Dimensions game

Have you heard of LEGO Dimensions, the LEGO toy and videogame hybrid from Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment? It has been the new kraze sweeping LEGO Clubs and game stores for weeks now. LEGO Dimensions combines the interactive fun of LEGO building with virtual worlds by incorporating characters, vehicles and locations from the biggest and most beloved entertainment franchises, including Batman, Doctor Who, Back to the Future, E.T. and more! After having the game for a few weeks now I can finally give some great reasons to jump in the LEGO dimensions game world with your kids!
This post is in collaboration with Lego dimensions. I received a free product to facilitate my review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
1. Encourages imagination and building. LEGO has always been at the forefront of encouraging imagination and the love of building things. This is something many have engaged in hours of fun doing as not only kids but adults! This game is no different, the starter pack comes with a "portal" for the characters to enter each other's entertainment world. One must build such a gateway first along with our beloved movie characters.
2. Helps with directions. Who need to learn to stop and ask for directions from time to time? Just like any LEGO box set, each item has a set of instructions to get started. They are numbered and it does not take much time at all to get started. I love how not only adult friendly this game is but also kids can easily setup and enjoy it as well!
3. It incorporates several movie characters, vehicles and their worlds. Each property in LEGO Dimensions has its own action packed adventure world just like in the movies. Each one houses a free-roaming stages filled with places to explore, complete tasks, bits to earn and iconic locales to rebuild. As you collect the characters you can unlock these new worlds.
4. Teaches multitasking and strategy. One cannot simply walk into any world they choose. They must have the accompanying game piece. The $99 starter gives you access to the story content plus the DC Comics, The LEGO Movie and The Lord of the Rings. As you start off you are in the Wizard of Oz world.
5. Fun factor. Yes, I had to throw this in because it really is a fun exploration game. Very similar to the other LEGO games this one seems to take it to the next level! We have played several games in the past such as LEGO Harry Potter years 1-4, LEGO Jurassic Park, LEGO Lord of the Rings and more. It was nice to see the characters working together in their different worlds.
The LEGO Dimensions Starter Packs are available NOW at Walmart and many other gaming stores. Not quite convinced? Enjoy releases of Harry Potter and the Wizarding world, Ghostbusters, Adventure Time, Fantastic Beasts and more coming this Fall. Personally we are excited about the Harry Potter kits since we may just be die hard fans!
