Clifton Hill Fun Pass, Canada

Yum

**I received a free pass to facilitate my review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
We had the pleasure of hanging out on Clifton Hill in Ontario, Canada! First we stopped and got a "Fun Pass" which included 5 attractions to partake in on Clifton Hill. I love when you save on attractions because then you can do a bunch of things at your own pace.
Since it was a bit windy we decided to head into the Midway arcade and play some games. 70,000 square feet of fun, featuring over 300 games!
Then we decided to grab a moving chair and watch the new 6D experience!! "Just imagine being whooshed up into a wild ride on a massive screen where you're lifting and turning and moving and twisting into elaborate scenery. There`s no better way to experience the action".
My son loves reptiles and as soon as he saw this talking snake we had to head into the Movieland Wax Museum. I had never been into this particular one and was rather excited to see "who" was in there.
Mac was over joyed ( although in this picture you may NOT see this) when he spotted "Harry Potter". All of my other photos are of him jumping, blurry and squealing in excitement!! He was even wearing his beloved Gryfindor scarf, totally won him over!
After all of those attractions I headed into Tim Horton's for a warm coffee and chocolate chip cookie to let them enjoy the SkyWheel. I will just go on record and say I am not particularly fond of high wheels. I love rides, not scared of heights but something about wheels in the air get me a bit disjointed. So, I let them enjoy this alone.
The SkyWheel looks over Clifton Hill, attractions and where we stayed at the Sheraton on the Falls. Enjoy Climate controlled gondolas towering 175 feet over the Niagara Falls horizon.
What we enjoyed with Fun Passes: The ability to walk up and down on Clifton Hill at our own pace. These allow you to do an attraction stop, eat come back with little kids this is great! I enjoyed the attractions together they compliment each other well.
What could be Improved: I do not have really anything constructive because we enjoyed ourselves with these!!
Overall Ratings: 4.9 out of 5 Stars!!

Raspberry Tart Recipe #raspberrydessert

Yum
Raspberry Tart Recipe
What you will need:
1/2 cup flour
1/2 water
salt
 1 carton of Dricolli's Raspberries
2-3 tbs. Honey (or you can use sugar to sweeten)
Create crust by adding flour, 1/4 water and salt into a bowl. Knead and then lay out flat as shown above. While you are mixing mash raspberries, 1/4 water, 2-3 tbs honey into a sauce pan and heat. Once the mixture turns to a jelly texture remove from heat and spread onto crust, as show above.
Roll the pastry up and slice into tarts!
It is ok if you spill out the jelly mixture just place on a non-stick cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 until golden brown.
We love these simple to make Raspberry tarts!
They are great for family gatherings and Summer parties. Enjoy!

Memorial Day

Yum
It's Memorial Day and I know people are off today with their kiddos. You are probably having a family picnic or maybe heading out to a Parade. McLachlan and I will be doing this as well today. Before you rush off and start your day I thought I would share a little story about my family. I know I usually post deals, parenting tips, advice, crafts, recipes you name it but every once in a while I include you readers into our lives. This is such an occasion. Every Memorial Day you will probably see this post because it will ring true and hold heavy on my heart as it does today. (All the pictures are of my own taking and are actual real events). On August 10,2010 my Mother, McLachlan and I drove down south to a Marine base. I will leave names and locations out of this for obvious privacy reason but those of you who have served can figure out which one I am referring to. On August 11th, 2010 we were told my Brother's company was due to come home.
My brother enlisted into the Marine corps before he graduated from high school. I have to say I was against it. My Mother signed the paperwork anyway and he was due to report within the week. When he told me this was what he wanted to do I was devastated and cried. He and I had gone through so much that I felt I was loosing my best friend. We had been friends since we were young and never fought like "normal" siblings. I couldn't imagine not looking out for him. Missing all that time and I was sure he would get hurt and maybe even sent overseas. After boot camp the war was upon us and he was sent to Iraq for a 2 year tour. A few minor scares hardly any contact and many cancelled times to see him later, he came home for a few days. Only to then be deployed again, this time to a hostile area in Afghanistan.
I can't tell you how many care packages we sent of gold bond, foods and bath essentials. Letters, hit or miss phone calls and emails. Our lives were lived completely separate, he missed out on holidays, birthdays, Johnny's Lunch and Lena's Pizza. Although, I will say that Johnny's Lunch ( a local hot dog shop) did send out care packages, of their famous Hot Dog sauces, to the troops. He was hurt pretty bad several times and the Red Cross did contact us with information when they could. The time finally neared when his company was due to come in. Anyone who has had a loved one deployed knows that they do not give exact times or dates of when they arrive just a two week time frame. We had not heard from him at all and was wondering what was wrong. So we arrived anyway and waited along with millions of other families in the hopes he would come home safely.
I watched with my little one as the ships came in and the hover crafts beached soldiers on land. Hours and hours went by in 90 degree weather but we didn't care the anticipation of 4 years of not seeing him was enough to wait. We held onto the dream he was alright and would make it home safely. Can you imagine waiting for days on end for two weeks never knowing when they will actually come in, if at all? This is how the military families live everyday.
So the next time you thank a vet, also thank their families!
My brother did in fact make it home! I was, We were one of the lucky one's! He will have those memories and experiences for his life time. I can't imagine what it was like. I don't pretend to understand years later. I know it was the best decision he could have made. My first worries and fears although logical where wrong and he was right. It was the right fit for him.
His life has benefited from it in many ways.
What am I thankful for? To me this is not a "holiday", Memorial Day, is a remembrance! A time to reflect on those who have served whether you believe in why they do it or not. A time to realize they gave their lives (or put them on hold), to help others with the ideal they are protecting each and everyone of us. So today along with all the other VETS out there we will be thanking today, our hearts will return to that day he walked off the Humvee and entered back into our lives again.
My brother, My friend, My hero!

Allstate: The Silver Lining for Breast Cancer

Yum

My grandmother, Helen, was an instrumental person in my life. She was blessed with both beauty outside and in. She helped found a Christian Camp, that services hundreds of young adults to know God. She worked to build what is now the Seneca, five Nations in Allegheny, NY. As a small child she taught me so much but it wasn't until her battle with breast cancer I would learn the hard lessons. Beauty and strength comes from within. She fought daily, lost parts of her women hood, little by little. I remember riding to her treatments listening to "He has the whole world in his hands" thinking she is so brave.
My grandmother lost her life to cancer but has changed mine forever. I hope to be a fraction of what she was to me to someone else. That beauty is within and shines outward. More than 250,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States each year. This disease effects not only those going through it but their families as well. "Allstate, through it's ongoing efforts to support the well being of women, is distributing the Silver Lining Companion Guide as a FREE resource to everyone impacted by breast cancer.
http://www.directrelief.org/silverlining/
"The New York Times bestselling author of "The Silver Lining," was diagnosed with breast cancer, she wanted a book to help her get through the experience; something that was a practical and honest resource but at the same time hopeful and supportive. No such book existed, so Hollye wrote "The Silver Lining" with her friend and photographer Elizabeth Messina".
Although this guide does not take away the confusion, pain and emotions that often come with a cancer diagnosis,it does provide some balance, perspective and hope needed to get through the difficult times.
You can find a FREE copy HERE
Also find a list of Allstate offices that carry the guide in print here.
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Minbie Bottle review

Yum
**I received a free copy of this book to review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
I was lucky to receive new Minbie feeding bottles just in time for my niece! So many advances have come to the market since my son was born six years ago. We needed a bottle that feed without constant spills and was easy for her to transition from breastfeeding.
My niece is a precious surprise with all the inter-makings of a sweetie pie! However when it comes to feeding she is like every other hungry person CRANKY! These bottles are the perfect size for her in every aspect. After searching the market these are the only one's she really feeds from.
Minbie bottles have a unique shape and design of the nipple. With a upturned nipple, the bottle is designed to replicate what a baby would experience while breastfeeding. Which as I said was so helpful since she did nurse the first few weeks of her life!
For those parents that are looking for an alternative bottle with a unique and positive impact on the feeding, check out the Minbie bottles. They really are such a great asset to any new parents!

There are classic stories of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood that kids and their parents can now enjoy reading and/or listening to".

2. 123 Tracing
123 Tracing is a popular series of apps by Kids Academy available for iPhone, iPad, Android devices. 123 Tracing apps are designed to teach kids basic math through a set of fun games.  You can create multiple kids’ profiles in the apps when children share the same device. This is a great learning app for beginners or school grade children.

ABC Preschool Games

This app teaches letters, numbers, shapes, colors, develops fine motor control and promotes new vocabulary. We loved this one most out of all three offered. My five year old enjoyed playing in the games and tracing things.

Goddess Garden Organics Safe Sunscreen #SunSafeGoddess

Yum
"This post is sponsored by GreenSisterhood but the opinion is of my own"
I had the pleasure of testing out the Goddess Garden Organics Safe Sunscreen and I am very pleased. I have always been health/environmentally conscious, which is very apparent in what we eat. However, I guess chemicals we use on our bodies have been on the back burner. Not because I didn't think they were important but I guess you don't always think about what you are putting on your body until you read product labels. Most conventional (chemical) sunscreens use the toxic chemical Oxybenzone, which is absorbed into the bloodstream and has been linked to endocrine disruption and is especially dangerous for children. After examining some of the stuff I was not only putting on my skin but my child's. I decided to try a more organic and natural approach.
My son loves to be outside when the weather is nice. Who could blame him since our weather is so temperamental. He loves the beach, outdoors but was I really helping the environment by using harmful chemicals on our bodies and then disposing of the tubes in landfills? I started to worry about this. Yes, I want him protected from the Suns rays but at what cost? "Unlike chemical sunscreens, Goddess Garden uses a unique combination of naturally occurring zinc and titanium to provide safe, reliable protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Goddess Garden is biodegradable, so once it washes off, it can safely return into the earth where it came from in the first place".
Goddess Garden Organics use minerals–not chemicals–to protect you from the sun. Our sunscreen is organic and made without chemicals or synthetic ingredients. And since our Non-GMO sunscreen is 100% natural, 100% biodegradable, and 100% reef safe, it not only protects you, but also the world around you! After reading more about the company and products I felt more secure in my decision to go natural!
My son is worth it and so is our environment. I didn't make the switch because I was told to or challenged too. I made the switch because it fit our family. Our skin doesn't break out nor have rashes from using this sunscreen. My son does not get burned from the harmful sun rays. In fact, he is safe to run around and play, as it should be! I am so happy with our switch I felt I needed to share with all of you!
They are hosting some freebie giveaways. The first 100 entrants will receive a 1oz tube of our everyday sunscreen ($3.99 value). Once these are gone, 500 free samples of our sunscreens will be given to all remaining entrants (which is still pretty fabulous!). Check them out here. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY Privacy Policy - your address will not be shared or sold. It will only be used to send the products if you qualify. Email address will be used to send future promotions and advertisements

Mom’s Nite Out Party #NMNO1

Yum

**I received products to facilitate my party. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.
We all know that being a mom is a full-time job. So why not take some time off to celebrate YOU every once in a while? Since it was National Mom's Night out on May 7th, that is just what we did! Cheers to runny noises, changing diapers, long, sleepless nights and our precious little one's smiles.
I found these cute "Mom's Night Out" Wine clings at myprintly.com. These were a great addition to the party!! I wanted to enjoy the evening but also have some fun drinks whilst we watched the Mom's Night Out Movie!!
If you are a Mom you have probably felt unappreciated, taken advantage of, stressed out and a bit crazy at times. Sometimes you NEED to get out with your girlfriends and order fun drinks! Have a meal cooked for you for once and just be an adult. Everyone needs a break and needs some adult time away from their kiddos. We love them but we have to remember we need "ME" time too!
I scheduled a party and even then it was apparent that not all Moms can get a night away. It is so hard because we are the glue that holds families together.
Here is to the mother's who worry about our children's hygiene, scraps, BO-boo's, emotions, schooling, what they are eating, education, what they wear, how they speak to others, the list is endless. Cheers to you! You are doing it, you are AWESOME and YOU are appreciated! Your child will learn through your examples. Remember to take some "you-time" and smile!
