Have you ever depended on music? Turned up your music and sang loudly when you were excited, happy or just needed a little pick me up? Personally, I have battled with Depression, childhood Sleep disorder, PTSD and cancer, music was my "way out". I turned to music, still do, when I needed to refocus and clear my head. I wanted to share with those of you who may be struggling with with addiction and recovery. Recovery Unplugged uses music as a way of treatment. I never had to be in recovery because I didn't turn to drugs but many of my friends have. It is so hard to see the someone with so much life be dependent onto an addiction they feel they cannot over come.
Recovery Unplugged Center is a great place to start treatment.Clients are able to use music as a catalyst to start to break down the barriers we build through their lives and their addictions. Along with music groups and live performances clients at Recovery Unplugged have the opportunity to explore a creative side of themselves through music, writing lyrics, and even recording their songs in our studio regardless of prior musical experience. Clients are also given the chance to express themselves performing for their peers.
I am passionate about recovery and want to add my voice to the growing movement to show my support for those who are battling addiction. Music is a way of expressing yourself and can be a catalyst to break down defenses to help facilitate, motivate and inspire the change necessary for long-term recovery and sobriety? I just wanted to share in case you are struggling. I hope this helps and points you in the right direction in your life.
